To achieve this look the paint colours used were Raspberry Truffle 2080-10 in a low lustre Regal Select Exterior Paint, for painting the siding and trim on the house they used Simply White 2143-70 from Benjamin Moore Paints.

Neutral paint colours  are often used as the primary colour when painting a house. Why not introduce your home with a powerful red, a bright yellow or orange that gives you a warm welcome feeling every time you walk up to your front door.

The modern and contempory look for both interior and exterior painting of houses in the Ottawa area are the gray’s and the blues and the greens. These paint colours go perfectly with any home’s exterior. They most often blend with the brick or siding of the home.

Best Type Of Paint To Use For Painting Front Doors

Painting the front door or any other exterior surface requires the use of specifically formulated paint for exterior.  Because of environmental elements such as snow, ice, rain, hail and extreme temperature fluctuations an exterior paint formulation is the only one that should be used.

Exterior paints are more resilient than interior paints as they have additional resins and pigments to make it more durable to withstand the forces of natural elements and helps prevent things like  fading, chipping, cracking, or peeling.

Exterior paints are sold in flat or matte, eggshell, satin, semi-gloss, and gloss sheens and depending on the type of paint finish you are after, most painting companies will recommend a semi-gloss exterior paint that gives you not too much of a shine yet provides excellent durability and water resistance more so than the flat or matte type sheens.

The best type of paint to use for painting front doors is exterior paints as they provide the best coverage, durability and protection to the exterior surface.  Some line of paint products carry the label of both interior/exterior but ensure you read the label before purchasing a tinted paint as it is non refundable.  Before applying any exterior paint product the surface must be cleaned, sanded if necessary and properly primed with a paint primer.

There are heavily marketed paint-and-primer products that are used by some homeowners but many professional painting companies will argue that it better to use a specifically formulated primer then a finishing paint colour.  There are no cost savings when buying paint as you will always need to apply 3 coats at minimum of either the all in one paint primer just as you would have to use a primer first, then follow it with two coats of finishing colour.  As a we use and recommend the Benjamin Moore  Paint Products, Aura Grand Entrance paint is a durable, specially formulated paint that keeps it’s colour and gloss.

A fresh coat of exterior paint can help maintain the beauty of the outside of your home as well as extend the protection from harsh outdoor elements all the while boosting your homes curb appeal.
